SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP:

The Event Planning Intern will support the Development Team at IRC San Diego in coordinating and promoting the annual fundraising event,Taste ofIRC,that will take place on October 30th, 2025. This role offers hands-on experience in event planning, communication,developmentand donor relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assistin planning andlogisticsfor the Taste of IRC

  • Support outreach to donors, sponsors, vendors, and event partners

  • Help develop promotional materials and social media content

  • Manage event-related databases and tracking documents

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Student will learn how to plan and execute major fundraising and community events

  2. Student will learn about strategic planning for fundraising and communications

  1. Student will learn about administrative processes in the non-profit space.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or graduated within one year, preferably event planning, marketing,communicationsor related area of study

  • Proficient in spoken and written English

  • Interest in event planning, nonprofit work, fundraising, or related fields

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and proactive

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Previousvolunteer or event planning experience is a bonus, but notrequired

  • Intern will need to supply their home workspace, computer, internet access, etc.

This position reports to the Development Manager.

Compensation:This is anunpaidinternship opportunity.

Working Environment:

  • The Event Planning Internship is remote, with occasional in-person days.

  • San Diego Office hours are scheduled Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm PST. Selected interns can choose their hours based on this window of availability.
