Position Overview

The Lab Technician reports directly to the Plant Manager. The Lab Technician is responsible for the filling and testing of various gases within the lab in order to maintain production schedules and quality control. The Lab technician is responsible for following all company policies and procedures to ensure impartiality and data integrity.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to fill various high-pressure gases and cryogenic containers, to include multi-component gas blending
  • Conduct analytical operations and duties including but not limited to gas chromatography
  • Prepare certificates and maintain organization of files for various gases and cryogenic containers
  • Review production fill records and certificates prior to release of products for distribution
  • Operate forklift to move full and empty cylinder pallets to designated areas
  • Cylinder handling and sorting on a daily basis
  • Pick, assemble, and ship all sales orders accurately in the required amount of time
  • Identify and report all order discrepancies and low stock level
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including the use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards
  • Assist the team with maintaining, optimizing and calibrating equipment
  • Coordinates with Supervisor concerning delivery schedules, product complaints, and special product requests
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience in laboratory analysis in an industrial environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to co-workers and customers
  • Working in a quality management system preferred
  • Understand compliance issues and safety-sensitive areas
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, computer literate
  • Must possess appropriate mathematical and analytical skills to determine the acceptability of the product(s) based on established criteria

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday and range from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
