Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Performs as a highly skilled meter and regulator mechanic and performs as a hands-on working Foreman responsible for the maintenance and repair of all meters, pressure regulators and instruments used/required in the measurement/regulating of gas, both vapor and liquid. Ensures compliance with manufacturer's specifications and/or safety requirements.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Develops independently or in coordination with the supervisor-in-charge, and implements, routine and project maintenance and repair plans and schedules; assigns, coordinates and directs work of Meter Shop personnel. Prepares cost estimates, sizes pressure regulators and/or meters for standard loads and usage as required.
  • Performs as a hands-on working Foreman responsible for ensuring that quantity of repairs/maintenance and quality of repairs are consistently met, including:
  • The inspection of all in-progress and completed work to ensure quality and compliance with manufacturer's specifications/established standards or safety requirements;
  • Providing technical/mechanical solutions (trouble-shooting) to difficult diagnostic maintenance/repair tasks by use of diagnostic equipment and application of job experience, adhering to manufacturer's specifications/standards;
  • Instructing all lesser grade mechanics on an on-going basis
  • Responsible for a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including:
  • Maintaining control and accountability for all meters, regulators, and associated parts. Requisitions replacement parts as needed and meters and pressure regulators for stock replenishment. Supplies meters, regulators and fittings to outer island operations.
  • Providing technical assistance to other departments when required and/or directed.
  • Training Meter Shop personnel in the correct method of performing work/job duties.
  • Preparing and/or maintaining inspection, repair and test records, meter transaction records, stock records, work log and daily time records and reports as necessary or required.
  • Performs all job duties of the more difficult/complex tasks of complete repairing, refurbishing, servicing, testing, calibrating and overhauling pressure/temperature correctors, meters and/or pressure regulators. Performs all the duties of lesser grade Meter Shop personnel.
  • Performs and/or directs the administrative requirements of the Meter Shop to include compiling and entering information into computer software programs for this activity.
  • Maintains work areas and equipment in a safe, orderly and neat condition and/or directs lesser grades to perform housekeeping duties; ensures work areas are free from discarded, broken, and not-in-use parts on a daily basis. Ensures effective control of toxic or caustic substances including the proper storage and disposal; coordinates with the EHS manager as appropriate.
  • Works in a safe and responsible manner. Responsible for all Meter Shop personnel and visitors to work areas to assure proper safety signs/warning devices are working correctly and/or in place according to safety rules/standards, and for ensuring proper wear/use of appropriate PPEs. Complies with and enforces all safety rules/standards and practices in effect and established/adopted by the Company. Promotes safety, safe work habits and good housekeeping to include the reporting and rectifying, as qualified, any unsafe conditions or act. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
  • Assists the supervisor-in-charge in the general operations and administration of the Meter Shop.
  • Performs related work as directed/required; drives assigned vehicle and maintains necessary supplies and equipment on the vehicle.


Qualifications

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

  • High school graduate with technical schooling in related discipline such as electronics or equivalent technical experience.
  • Completed course (high school or above) with satisfactory grade in physics, fluid dynamics, or thermodynamics.
  • Completed all required Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal/State, OSHA Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs. Must maintain at least minimum passing scores per regulations, for all recurring Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs.
  • At least nine years successful and progressive experience five years of which must have been in the Meter Shop repairing, servicing, testing, proving, and calibrating all types of gas measurement and regulation equipment and appurtenances.
  • Ability to plan, layout and direct the work of others.
  • Possesses a very good working knowledge of all codes, regulations, standards, and safety rules/regulation/practices of the regulatory agencies/trade/Company in addition to specialized knowledge of the design, construction, assembly, adjustment, maintenance and repair of meters and regulator, both vapor and liquid.
  • Proficient in the proper use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the trade and have a good safety record.
  • Ability to use computer and software programs such as Microsoft, Excel and Word

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:

  • Must possess a valid Type 3 Driver's License.
