Technical Specialist - OSD Formulation (2nd Shift)

POSITION SUMMARY

The TTS is a liaison between the production work teams and other enabling support teams with the primary focus to be on training, operational excellence systems development, preventative maintenance and repair for the Value Stream.

The job includes establishing and improving processes by using lean thinking and lean manufacturing applications for a three-shift operation. The TTS will initiate and lead efforts in root cause problem solving and implementation of effective corrective/preventative actions by using Lean tools such as: M1 problem solving, Zoetis Human Performance Analysis, Process FMEA, and systematic trouble shooting.

The TTS is expected to work with engineering by participating in developing equipment specifications, user requirements, capital scope development, and qualification activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiating and facilitating problem solving and training sessions.
  • Overseeing the training of new colleagues on highly specialized equipment. Assisting with access levels, evaluating colleague proficiency levels, and helping to identify/train Subject Matter Experts.
  • Review of downtime trends and initiation of improvement projects to increase productivity
  • Continuous learning of OpEx programs, systems and tools.
  • Coordinating Preventative Maintenance shutdowns and activities with the Maintenance team.
  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for mechanical and process related items; equipment, SOPs, Batch record, forms, logs
  • Leading projects in the area (Lean Principles, 5S, Validation, New material /equipment)
  • Ensuring that Maintenance logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensuring that Operator Care is performed to plan and documented accurately.
  • Initiating and tracking green tags/work orders.
  • Knowledgeable with EBR PAS/X system and able to assist in troubleshooting.
  • Production Floor presence and support for assigned shift
  • Able to perform other duties as required.

SKILL, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Effective communication and demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Strong mechanical abilities.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and make minor repairs on production equipment.
  • Mechanical reasoning skills that will be essential for troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs and production practices.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement work environment; 5S, visual schedule, PDCA, M1, etc.
  • Ability to train on area SOP's/OJT's- equipment, process, paperwork
  • Willingness to learn and master new processes.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility and reliability
  • Leads by example through adherence to written policies and procedures.
  • Displays behaviors consistent with Zoetis Core Beliefs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment, including moving mechanical parts. The work conditions for this position are 100% standing and walking throughout the workday and require routing lifting of 20-50lbs. The colleague will be required to utilize certain Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to, hard hats, safety ("steel-toed") shoes, eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing. Manual dexterity and ability to keep up with pace of production standards.

Work Environment: Colleague must not be cephalosporin sensitive. Must work near moving mechanical parts. Eye protection and other personal protective equipment are required. Flexible hours and overtime may be required.
