Senior Technician R&D

This position will contribute to the use of our raw materials in end-use products across various applications to support business needs.

The Senior Technician will be part of the larger Technical Service Team at our Kraton Innovation Center in Savannah, Georgia under the guidance for the lubrication and coatings expert.

The focus of this position will be on the applications and technical service work for the various pine chemicals markets that we serve, with a strong focus on formulation and coating technologies.

• Contribute to the design of lab experiments based on understanding of customer or team needs with the guidance of a supervisor.
• A key focus will be formulation and application testing utilizing specialized instrumentation and current ASTM methodology.
• Understand and communicate experimental and analytical results that will be used in reports and presentations.

• Take ownership and trouble shoot equipment to understand unusual results.
• Support technical service and sales to manage customer needs.

• Assist other lab technicians on lab set ups and experiments

• Flexibility to learn new technologies and applications as opportunities are identified.
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with guidance of a supervisor
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with a global team.
• Previous technical customer interaction is a plus.
• Adhesive formulation experience a plus.
• Coatings experience a plus.

• HS Diploma + 6 years relevant experience OR
• Associate Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering/MLO/MBO Vocational Background + 4 years relevant experience OR
• Bachelor of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering + 2 years relevant experience
