This is a product manager position with the WaveLogic Technologies PLM team. The product manager is expected to work closely with a cross functional team to support the definition, introduction, and life cycle management of Ciena's industry leading WaveLogic Technologies portfolio; specifically, our award-winning and industry-leading WaveLogic coherent pluggable optics. The main objective of this position is to be the product management interface into Ciena's WaveLogic technologies customers including global service providers, enterprises, as well as OEM partners.

How You Will Contribute:

In this role you will focus on a new Ciena's WaveLogic product line covering multiple generations of coherent pluggable optics.

As WaveLogic Technologies Product Line Management, you will be part of the PLM team that manages a rapidly expanding world class coherent product portfolio. You will identify the key market requirements, and support/promote the market adoption of Ciena's WaveLogic coherent optics in a wide range of customers on a global basis.

This is an individual contributor position reporting into the Ciena's Product Line Management organization and offers the opportunity to manage current generations of products and influence next generations product roadmap.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-functional manner across Ciena's modem and component teams
  • Gather feature requirements from key customers, including but not limited to global service providers, enterprises, and OEM partners
  • Partner with marketing teams to develop product positioning and marketing collaterals (e.g., external presentations, data sheets, value propositions, competitive analyses, etc.)
  • Work with product line managers and R&D architects in prioritizing features and defining roadmaps.
  • Assist sales with roadmap presentations and RFx responses
  • Serve as a key interface between engineering and sales/customers.
  • ~10% travel required including international (e.g. customer visits, trade shows, cross-functional meetings, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, customer interaction and interpersonal skills; or strong desire to acquire/improve on these skills
  • Ability to become a subject matter expert on coherent pluggables
  • Works well with customer-facing teams
  • Strong business acumen
  • Self-motivated. Must possess Start-Up work ethics and mentality to support our rapid growth and fluid market dynamics
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced organization with a growth mindset
  • Education: Technical degree (BSEE minimum)
  • Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated experience in relevant areas. Prior Product Management or Technical Marketing experience is a plus, but not mandatory.

The annual pay range for this position is $110,100 - $175,900 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
