Essential Job Responsibilities:

The HVAC Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, and ventilation. This position is critical in maintaining the comfort of a world class cruise terminal and ensuring other critical infrastructure within the terminal are maintained appropriately.



  • Understand and maintain all HVAC related documentation, drawings (both and reference materials. internal and vendor supplied) and reference materials.
  • Ability to plan, schedule HVAC preventative maintenance and projects, create and issue work orders and liaise with onsite contractors through to project completion.
  • Troubleshoot controls and power electrical systems, primary electrical systems using ladder logic, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Remove and replace motors, starters, relays, limit switches, fuses, and primary control components.
  • New installation wiring hook-ups and upgrade existing equipment if needed.
  • Inspection of HVAC systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment and/or repair.
  • Assembling, inspecting, adjusting, repairing, or replacing faulty parts and wiring on all types of mechanical and electrical devices. Making mechanical and electrical repairs as required.
  • Provide input to the company regarding specifications of the operational equipment.
  • Perform mechanical operations, repair, and maintenance to building systems to include automatic transfer switch, UPS/battery storage, emergency generators, and photovoltaic systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend controls for all HVAC maintenance costs.
  • Evaluate and perform HVAC maintenance programs to ensure they are accomplishing the intended objectives.
  • Provide training to maintenance personnel to improve performance and skills.
  • Stress workplace safety and participate in terminal safety programs.
  • Participate/provide input in the acquisition of new or replacement HVAC equipment/gear.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Refrigeration System Operating Engineer Certification preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC maintenance required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and/or blueprints, Loop drawings and P&ID's.
  • Command strong written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership skills in overall terminal management, and oversite of various electrical vendors.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work autonomously.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid TWIC.
  • Valid Driver's License.
