This Position reports to:

Facility Manager

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager is a core member of the local Business Leadership Team. Contribute to improving Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance in the organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a focus on the environment. Support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice. Facilitate delivery of support and ensure effective risk management through HSE excellence along ABB's value chain.

The work model for the role will be on-site in Byhalia, MS. #LI-Onsite

This role is contributing to the Electrification Installation Products division in North America.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Implementing policies and standards that meet regulatory compliance requirements
  • Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfill their roles, according to local HSE law and ABB Group policy, instructions, and standards.
  • Report and investigate HSE incidents
  • Drive and ensure compliance with Group management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).
  • Identifies, plans and initiates training needs, (e.g., for employees, site managers)
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to coach and influence all levels of the organization as well as contract partners
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience with various management systems including Intelex, Gensuite, and others is preferred
  • Experience with OSHA 510, 511 for CFRs 1910 and 1926 is preferred, as well experience implementing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Flexible to work across 3 shifts
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

ABB Installation Products Division (formerly Thomas&Betts), helps manage the connection, protection and distribution of electrical power from source to socket. The Division's products are engineered to provide ease of installation and perform in demanding and harsh conditions, helping to ensure safety and continuous operation for utilities, businesses and people around the world. The Commercial Essentials product segment includes electrical junction boxes, commercial fittings, strut and cable tray metal framing systems for commercial and residential construction. The Premier Industrial product segment includes multiple product lines, such as Ty-Rap cable ties, T&B Liquidtight Systems protection products, PVC coated and nylon conduit systems, power connection and grounding systems, and cable protection systems of conduits and fittings for harsh and industrial applications. The Division also manufactures solutions for medium-voltage applications used in the utility market under its marquee brands including Elastimold reclosers and switchgear, capacitor switches, current limiting fuses, Homac distribution connectors, Hi-Tech Valiant full-range current limiting fuse for fire mitigation, faulted current indicators and distribution connectors, cable accessories and apparatus with products for overhead and underground distribution. Manufacturing includes made-to-stock and custom-made solutions.
