The Quality Assurance Specialist is integral to achieving a premium quality experience to our consumers. This individual assures compliance with applicable regulatory and certification bodies and ensures the quality management system is effective, current, and is continuously improved. The Quality Assurance Specialist manages and leads improvements on food safety and quality programs, processes, and procedures. They monitor the performance of system components and stay current with new technologies, regulations and requirements. This position, by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing and administering components of the quality management system.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality management system while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Lead quality improvement projects and collaborate with site operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Contribute to the writing, review, approval and maintenance of the document library.
  • Track quality metrics/key performance indicators and analyze data to drive improvement to processes and procedures.
  • Develop and implement best practices while driving continuous improvement. Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving activities
  • Support regulatory and third-party audits and lead the plant internal audit program.
  • Manage the Learning Management Systems (LMS), provide training when required, and identify opportunities to improve the training process.
  • Prepare reports to provide insight into quality and food safety performance
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and ensure processes align with relevant standards, certifications, and legal requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or closely related field of study)
  • Knowledge of quality systems (GMP, HACCP, FSMA, GFSI, Auditing)
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in data analysis and problem-solving using software (Excel, Minitab) and Business Systems (SAP, PLM)
  • FSMA compliant PCQI and HACCP certified
  • Familiarity with GFSI audits and regulatory inspections
  • Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to act with a sense of urgency; Detail-oriented with a keen eye for identifying and solving quality-related issues.
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality and auditing in the food industry with a broad understanding of industry standards and best practices
