Waste Connections of Washington, Inc. is searching for a Recycling Advocate to join our team in Vancouver, WA.

Shift is Monday - Friday.

Start time 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Wage range is $23.50/hour

Job Description:

OurRecyclingAdvocates do more than drive, they focus on our Curbside Contamination Reduction Plan. This position visits residential homes and apartment complexes collecting data to help spread educationalrecycling& composting awareness. This is an important role in helping improve the overall quality of recyclable materials in Clark County. If you are passionate about sustainability, then this could be a great fit for you!

  • Visiting assigned areas on collection day and placing informational tags on recycling & organics carts.
  • Delivering educational materials, inventorying, and surveying at apartment complexes.
  • Accurately collecting data and other information.
  • Responding to questions and concerns of the public in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner.
  • Tabling at events on the weekends and assisting other staff with small projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Expereince working in sustainability, waste reduction, recycling, composting field highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Clark County region and recycling practices.
  • Working knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of applications such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Forms.
  • Ability to make judgement calls to maintain safety while walking and driving along streets.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk long distances and up and down numerous flights of stairs.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle for long durations of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lb-boxes and other equipment using proper lifting techniques.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Safety sensitive position; offer of employment dependent on eligible background check, eligible motor vehicle report and clean drug panel screening .

    Logistics:

    • 40 hour work-week.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
