Location: Jacobs Associates, Inc. dba Delve Underground in Walnut Creek, CA Salary: $125,798 - $145,000 per year Responsibilities: Solve complex engineering problems in civil and heave underground construction and perform sophisticated structural analysis including dynamic analysis to find effective solutions and increase client confidence in final designs. Assess potential structural damage under extreme events utilizing commercial simulation software, including LS-DYNA and ADINA. Perform multi-dimensional dynamic soil-structure-interaction analyses using LS-DYNA, and programming tools, including MATLAB and MathCAD. Prepare structural design calculations and reports for tunnels, shafts, foundations, temporary excavation support systems, and other types of underground structures. Write technical memoranda and other documents explaining the basis for structural designs. Review contractor submittals such as drawings and specifications for structural designs. Develop numerical analysis framework within depth knowledge of finite element method and finite difference method for simulating behavior of ground including soil and rock based on the soil-structure interaction approach. Participate in the Quality Assurance and Quality Control process for structural design prior to submittal to the client. Position may include additional duties that utilize the required skills. Position requires incidental travel to company's San Francisco office, as well as unanticipated construction and field sites within the San Jose- San Francisco-Oakland combined Statistical Area. Telecommuting permitted up to 40%; employee must reside within normal commuting distance of company's office in Walnut Creek, California. Qualifications: Requires a Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, and two years of experience in:
