Position: Accounting Assistant Manager
Location: Carson, CA (on-site)
Working Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Report to: Accounting Manager
Employment: Exempt, Direct-Hire, Full-Time
OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Assistant Manager oversees general ledger functions and ensures the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in compliance with USA GAAP standards. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, key responsibilities include confirming sales revenue, managing the accounting department's schedule, handling cash flow and bank transactions, and preparing financial reports to support management decision-making. The Assistant Manager also coordinates accounts payable and receivable functions, resolves accounting issues, and conducts financial analysis to align operations with company strategy. Additionally, this role involves supervising and training accounting staff, delegating tasks, reviewing work for accuracy, and providing ongoing performance feedback to drive team productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures through effective collaboration across accounting teams
Assist in coordinating billing and payment processes, ensuring seamless workflow across departments
Troubleshoot and resolve accounting discrepancies efficiently, and ensure weekly reporting of AP/AR balances and currency exchange rates
Oversee day-to-day cash flow activities, manage bank transactions, and prepare reports for leadership on cash disbursement
Validate revenue recognition processes and maintain alignment with corporate policies and U.S. GAAP standards
Support the Accounting Manager on cross-functional initiatives and specialized financial projects
Supervise and guide accounting staff on tasks related to accounts payable and receivable; review entries in the accounting system for accuracy
Conduct in-depth reviews of financial data to evaluate operational performance and cost effectiveness
Prepare comprehensive financial documents and trend analyses to support strategic planning and informed decision-making
Compile budgets and assess financial forecasts to optimize resource allocation and company performance
Assign duties to team members, review completed work for accuracy, and offer mentorship and training to promote professional growth
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience AND supervisory experience required.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel - with pivot tables and formulas.
Willingness to work overtime during busy season.
Bilingual Japanese skill and/or understanding Japanese culture is a plus.
