Position Summary

The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
(PM&R), within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, is
seeking a Medical Education Program Manager to oversee all aspects of the Brain
Injury and Sports Medicine Fellowships and PM&R Residency. This highly
motivated and detail-oriented person will liaison with Program Directors and
entities from UNM's GME office and Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital
(LUNMRH) in order to establish and manage procedures in compliance with
university, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages funding allocations; approves and monitors budget expenditures; prepares budget revisions; provides status reports on all accounts; provides fiscal direction to the unit.
  • Provides leadership in the execution of day-to-day medical education program activities, as well as support to residents, fellows, medical students, and faculty as appropriate to each customer's needs.
  • Oversees the supervision of medical education personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, and enforcement of internal procedures and controls; provides problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Designs and develops (or assists with the design and development of) new programs and projects.
  • Oversees all facets of the acceptance of candidates into medical residency programs to include recruitment, selection, and onboarding of residents.
  • Oversees the complex process of clinical rotation scheduling for residents and (as appropriate) fellows; ensures that all rotation schedules are fully supported by appropriate sites and preceptors.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of systems and processes to establish and maintain records for PM&R's medical education programs.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations in accordance with accreditation standards; tracks participant progress through the program for completion of requirements; coordinates information required for ongoing program recertification.
  • Oversees the production, development, advertising, and marketing activities of the program; may develop handouts, pamphlets, and brochures.
  • Develops (or assists with the development and implementation of) policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of the program.
  • May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are supervisory level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 6 years of experience, 2 of which are supervisory-level experience directly related to:
    • Development of annual operating budgets and provision of program fiscal direction;
    • Scheduling and reporting of clinical rotations for residents and fellows; AND
    • Tracking participant progress through the program for completion of requirements.
  • Experience in the organization of educational programs, meetings, and/or special events.
  • Knowledge of UNM Brand guidelines in the preparation of marketing materials for distribution to prospective program members.
