Role Summary

The Commercial Remodel + Special Projects Design and Project Management role works cross-functionally across both development disciplines (Design and Construction) supporting facilities remodel and special projects to ensure all financial, administrative, contractual, and technical aspects of multiple projects are being executed as required. Some examples of projects this role would execute are minor and major remodels, programmatic roll outs across the fleet, and the execution and standardization of new product types.
The primary function of the role is to provide execution-related services when a permit or multiple trades are required (as described above) across North America for Service and Retail facilities, reporting into the Sr Regional Development Lead, Remodels + Special Projects, Commercial Development.


Responsibilities

  • The overarching responsibility of this role is ensuring the end-to-end success of each initiative and/or project by ensuring cross functional alignment on budget, schedule and quality and then executing against those commitments.
  • Execute on multiple projects at once in various phases, following our standard project intake process, in partnership with Facilities Ops to ensure Finance and End User program alignment.
  • Execute on Design and Construction of these projects/initiatives including, direct responsibility for the creation of design concepts in collaboration with cross-functional partners while adhering to design standards, and direct management of both AEOR partners and General Contractors throughout the documentation and construction phases.
  • Partner with Standards, Facilities Operations, Design, Finance and Real Estate to properly ingest new remodel projects/initiatives and mature them through the budgeting, design, approval and execution gates.
  • Oversee the design and construction work for compliance with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall conformance with the contract documents.
  • Assist purchasing managers in creating contractor and vendor RFP documents (scope narratives, schedules, etc.), attend job walks and selection/award review meetings.
  • Establish and/or review contract documents and manage procurement, pre-bid conferences, and evaluations.
  • Coordinate project/initiative tasks with other Rivian staff, departments, and public agencies.
  • Resolve field construction problems in coordination with engineering staff, third parties, and other agencies as necessary.
  • Chair progress meetings, complete status reports, and deliver presentations, as required.
  • Assist in negotiating with contractors regarding changes to design, construction work scope, and schedules.
  • Support Rivian safety vision and comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, is preferred, or similar number of years of experience in the
  • Lead projects "the Rivian way," providing professional influence on the work exemplifying respect, leadership, commitment, vision and teamwork.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and conflicts that may arise on projects/initiatives
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide project/initiative leadership despite complexity, volume, or pace
  • Ability to support and provide a "customer service mentality" for multiple internal stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to assess the operational effectiveness of contractors
  • Possess written and oral communication skills to support objective decisions and recommendations
  • Develop and manage budgets and schedules within established parameters
  • General proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents across all disciplines
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical materials accurately and effectively
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills
  • The physical demands associated with the duties and responsibilities described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform this job. This includes ability to spend extended hours walking construction sites and traveling to different project sites and offices.
