What you'll do We are seeking an innovative Product Lead to orchestrate our direct-to-device satellite communications product line. This role will drive the development and deployment of satellite-to-mobile services, enabling direct connectivity between satellites and consumer mobile devices and automobiles. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge of satellite communications with consumer product expertise. The day-to-day Define and complete the product strategy for our satellite-to-mobile service offerings, including emergency services, messaging, voice and data connectivity solutions Develop pricing models and go-to-market strategies for both consumer and enterprise satellite-to-mobile service offerings Drive partnerships with global telecom operators to build and develop roaming relationships to ensure detailed integration of satellite capabilities into the mobility ecosystem Lead the development of the service architecture in collaboration with satellite engineering teams, focusing on optimizing the space-to-ground link for mobile devices Partner and drive regulatory compliance across different geographical regions, working with legal teams to navigate satellite spectrum licensing and telecommunications regulations Build and maintain product roadmaps that align with satellite constellation deployment schedules and ground infrastructure development What you'll need Proven product management experience, with at least 4 years in satellite communications, telecommunications, or related field Deep understanding of satellite communications technology, including LEO constellations, RF protocols, and mobile network architecture Experience with regulatory frameworks governing satellite communications and telecommunications Strong technical background in wireless communications, preferably with knowledge of 3GPP standards and satellite integration Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required; equivalent experience will be considered Proven record of launching sophisticated technology products involving multiple stakeholders Technical Knowledge Understanding of satellite communications protocols and standards Familiarity with mobile baseband architecture and RF front-end design Knowledge of link budgets and satellite coverage analysis Experience with ground station networks and operations Understanding of cellular standards (4G/5G) and their integration with satellite systems Leadership & Skills Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate sophisticated, multi-year initiatives Excellence in stakeholder management across technical and business functions Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision making What will help you on the job Master's degree or equivalent experience in relevant technical field Experience with satellite IoT or M2M communications Knowledge of emergency services protocols and standards Background in mobile device hardware integration Experience with spectrum management and licensing Previous work with space technology companies or satellite operators Salary range $207,500.00 - $327,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $257,500.00- $386,500.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
