Job Summary

Plan and manage the delivery of strategic consulting services on smaller projects or workstreams within larger projects, across academic, research, administrative, affiliated, and economic development units of the Institute. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Institute and unit management, faculty, and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: Institute and unit management, faculty, and staff. This position will supervise: N/A.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Serve as a workstream lead or leader of smaller projects. Works under the guidance and direction of the engagement leader where applicable
Job Duty 2 - Partner closely with client to understand their challenges and needs and design the approach for achieving the intended outcome. Meet regularly with client to communicate progress, risks, and next steps. Foster client relationships on assigned project workstreams.
Job Duty 3 - Lead key tasks and guide the development of client deliverables.
Job Duty 4 - Gather data describing the client's current business and operating performance. Design and conduct needs assessments, focus groups, and stakeholder interviews with the goal of understanding the current state and identifying opportunities for improvement. Identify and implement recommendations to address issues or gaps and monitor program progress to completion.

Job Duty 5 - Lead core project management activities on assigned projects including project planning, risks and issues, status reporting, etc. Ensure completion of project management activities.
Job Duty 6 - Build value assessment surveys and perform analysis with the guidance of project leaders. Assist in defining, tracking, and communicating value and impact of projects through case study development.

Job Duty 7 - Support competency area development and develop depth of knowledge in one or more competency areas.
Job Duty 8 - Use competency area toolkits with little guidance.
Job Duty 9 - Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group on projects.
Job Duty 10 - Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Four to six years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Four to six years of job-related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative organizational data, prepare summary reports, and use the outputs to identify challenges and form recommendations for organizational improvement. Ability to work within a matrix organization structure. Ability to foster teamwork. Ability to develop and mentor others. Ability to assess and interpret client's expressed needs. Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills. Ability to model Georgia Tech's nine values consistently and effectively.

KNOWLEDGE
Foundational knowledge of project management best practices. Solid understanding of core consulting practices. Knowledge of organizational effectiveness practices including familiarity with all of GTSC competency areas.

SKILLS
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated capability to effectively lead the work of teams. Strong critical thinking skills. Use competency methods and tools with minimal guidance. Advanced proficiency in use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Project management skills. Problem and situation analysis skills. Actively listen and engage with clients to understand organizational needs and opportunities.
