Senior Vice President, User Research & Design

Role Overview

Dynata is seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP) of User Research & Design to lead the strategy and execution of user research and user-centered design across Dynata's product suite. This leader will lead a team responsible for understanding customer needs, identifying ways to address those needs via Dynata's data and products, and enhancing Dynata's research products. The SVP will play a critical role in ensuring that Dynata's solutions are intuitive, engaging, and optimized for data quality and respondent satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

UX Strategy & Vision

  • Define the overall UX/UI vision aligned with business goals and user needs
  • Develop a design strategy that supports the company's product roadmap
  • Advocate for a user-centric approach across all external and internal client experiences
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UI/UX.

2. User Research & Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Lead user research initiatives (e.g., user interviews, surveys, usability testing) to inform product strategy and development.
  • Analyze user behavior, feedback, and analytics to optimize the UX.
  • Implement A/B testing and usability studies to validate design decisions.
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative insights to iterate and improve the user experience.

3. Design Leadership & Execution

  • Oversee the end-to-end design process-from research and wireframing to prototyping and final UI design.
  • Ensure consistency in design systems, including typography, color schemes, and components.
  • Promote accessible and inclusive design principles to meet usability and compliance standards.
  • Define interaction patterns and usability guidelines for product teams.

4. Evangelizing UX Culture

  • Educate teams and executives on the value of UX and user-centered design.
  • Organize design thinking workshops and UX training sessions.
  • Advocate for a strong UX research culture, ensuring user needs drive product decisions.
  • Represent the company at design conferences, webinars, and industry events.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product, technology, panel, marketing, and executive teams to align design with business objectives.
  • Advocate for design thinking and human-centered design methodologies.
  • Ensure smooth handoffs between design and development teams, optimizing design feasibility.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and researchers to integrate user feedback and analytics into design decisions.

6. Process Optimization & Design Operations

  • Establish efficient design workflows and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
  • Promote agile and lean UX methodologies within the team.
  • Standardize design documentation and best practices for scalability.
  • Enhance design-to-development collaboration, ensuring smooth implementation of UI designs.

7. Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Build, manage, and mentor a team of UX designers, UI designers, user researchers, and front-end specialists.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Set clear goals, performance metrics, and career development paths for the design team.
  • Provide constructive feedback on design work and facilitate design reviews.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 12+ years of experience in user research, UX design, or human-centered product development.
  • 8+ years leading and growing teams, with a track record of building high-performing research and design organizations.
  • Deep expertise in survey design, respondent behavior research, and digital experience optimization.
  • Strong understanding of AI-driven UX enhancements, behavioral science, and data-driven design.
  • Experience working with B2B and B2C research platforms, survey tools, and panel-based data.
  • Ability to translate complex user insights into actionable design and product strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Design, or a related field preferred.

The base salary range for this position in is $220K-$250K/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A discretionary incentive program may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and other benefits, dependent on full-time employment status.
