Purpose of Position:

The Assistant Director forVolunteerism and Service-Learning(VSL) will provide comprehensive and campus-wide leadership to support student learning through co-curricular service programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Position VSL as a central resource for service programming, through campus-wide outreach and relationship development with partner departments and programs. Manage and update UT Austin's network within the GivePulse platform to maximize campus usership and data gathering around community engagement efforts. Coordinate user literacy through multi-level training for both campus and community partners
  • Create and manage a comprehensive assessment and data collection plan for all aspects of the VolunteerUT initiative. Gather campus-wide community engagement participation data annually, aimed at capturing student volunteer impact. Provide data for university-level research and compliance reporting.
  • Coordinate entry-level service programming aimed at first and second-year students as well as student organizations. As part of a team, serve as an advisor to the Community Engagement Collective.
  • Coordinate recognition efforts aimed at showcasing impact of service programming on students and community partners. Assist in coordination of recognition programming across the Office of the Dean of Students.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision for student staff assisting in the facilitation of co-curricular programs.
  • Support VSL programming through event planning, logistical support, and event participation. Actively participate in various teams and committees as assigned, contributing to the advancement of the Office of the Dean of Students, and the Division of Student Affairs.

Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Experience in higher education or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work well as a team member.
Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision.
Goal-driven, self-directed and creative with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
Professional demeanor.
Regular and punctual attendance.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications
Master's degree.
Five years of relevant work experience in higher education or a related field.
Experience planning, coordinating, and executing events or college student programming.
Experience in volunteer coordination, particularly through the GivePulse platform.
Experience in community-based work, whether at a university, corporation, or nonprofit.
Familiarity with social media and web applications for outreach, productivity and project management.

Salary Range

$70,000

Work Shift

M-F, 8am - 5pm may include weekend and evening hours
