Support mission-critical operations as a Technical Writer, Journeyman in Colorado Springs.

This role provides technical writing expertise to support the 1st Test and Evaluation Squadron, ensuring consistent formatting, grammar, and style across a variety of mission documents. Your contributions will streamline communications and documentation critical to test and evaluation planning and reporting.

Pay: $97,000 - $105,000

Essential Duties

Document Review & Quality Assurance



  • Review test plans, reports, and briefings for formatting, grammar, and style compliance
  • Apply writing standards in accordance with higher headquarters communication guidance
  • Ensure written materials are clear, consistent, and aligned with unit standards


Technical Communication Support



  • Support government personnel in updating document templates, manuals, and presentation materials
  • Assist test teams with interpreting document guidance to improve coordination timelines
  • Provide input on document edits during program review meetings


Collaboration & Continuity



  • Serve as a continuity resource for document development and coordination practices
  • Help standardize communication outputs across the test and evaluation mission set
  • Offer clear, actionable feedback to authors while maintaining document integrity


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum 6 years of experience in technical writing or document review
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify formatting and grammatical issues
  • Proficient in written communication standards; ability to work independently and collaboratively


Preferred Qualifications



  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or U.S. Air Force writing requirements
  • Familiarity with DoD/USAF communication standards, templates, and writing styles
  • Experience reviewing and editing briefing materials and formal documentation


Education & Certification



  • Bachelor's degree preferred in English, Communications, or related field; Additional years of experience can be substituted for degree requirement.

  • Top Secret / SCI


Travel



  • Minimal travel required (TBD)
