As a Advanced Video Engineerunder limited supervision, you will be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's advanced video and signal processing hardware, software and electrical systems. Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas. Works closely with Headend operations staff on system design and configuration.

WHAT OUR SENIOR VIDEO SUPPORT ENGINEER'S ENJOY MOST

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Advanced configuration and support of advanced video equipment (e.g. VOD, controllers, multiplexing, digital transport, edge QAM).
  • Work with Engineering to design and test system designs.
  • Develop, design and implement electronic systems including audio, video and other multimedia equipment.
  • Analyze and evaluate new or improved electronic components.
  • Identify, resolve and escalate as required operational and design issues through data analysis and recommend solutions to make systems more efficient.
  • Work with the field on the implementation of network related projects and other standardization efforts.
  • Work with vendors and Engineering to resolve issues and design flaws.
  • Perform detailed problem diagnosis, track and update problems in trouble ticketing system.
  • Develop problem resolution procedures required to meet serviceability requirements.
  • Function as lead level and provide technical guidance and assistance to other support teams across enterprise.
  • Provide mentoring to associated staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Know, understand and follow company policies.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Five (5) years Video or Technology Engineering work experience.
    • Three (3) years of experience in maintaining and troubleshooting video delivery or video applications, networks or systems.
    • Three (3) years of experience with internal/external technical support in video environment (Headend, Network, Telecom, or Operations background).
    • Expert Knowledge of IP and MPEG Protocol Analyzers.
    • Project management.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Video Engineering, Networking or related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E).
  • Technical skills:
    • Advanced experience of interactive set top controller systems and their components.
    • Operational experience with building, grooming, and troubleshooting various linear and NextGen/OTT/TVE multiplexing, encoding and transcoding platforms.
    • Experience with Video acquisition, MPEG monitoring, transcoding/encoding, multiplexing, and modulation platforms.
    • Advanced IP networking knowledge, TCP/IP protocols, Routing, Switching, Routing protocols, ISIS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF MPLS, TCP/IP protocols, SNMP, ARP etc.
    • Knowledge of network access and element management systems and their protocols (SMNP, NMS, Syslog, SSH, Telnet, etc.)
    • Advanced knowledge of UNIX and UNIX tools.
    • Advanced Knowledge of Motorola (DAC) and/or CISCO (DNCS) video delivery systems.
    • Expert Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.
    • Advanced experience of MSO video network architecture, data networking, system operations, and HFC cable systems are required.
    • Can work on remote video equipment and take initiative to learn multiple video systems, devices and architectures in a faced paced, quick restoration focused environment.
    • Ability to isolate and troubleshoot failed equipment, facility issues and other network components.
    • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
    • Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations.
  • Work Schedule and Conditions:
    • Work in a 24x7, fast paced environment.
    • Scheduled on-call duty.
    • Exposure to continuous moderate noise.
    • Work in temperature controlled environment.
    • Travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more of the following certifications or similar preferred: SCTE BTCS, SCTE Fundamentals of SDV, Digital Video and MPEG, DVEP, IPEP or CCNA a plus.
  • Linix or Red Hat certification or experience a plus.
  • Experience with IP multicast video in cable Headends, Hubs, industry vendors' a plus.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to write scripts.
  • Knowledge of company products, services, and NOC procedures.
  • Knowledge of network and element management systems.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
