We are looking to hire a Forklift Maintenance Technician in our Newport News, VA facility. What you will do:
- Perform preventative maintenance schedules on a daily basis for identified assets. This function will be performed to OEM specifications unless signed off by engineering management.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a computer based preventative maintenance program. This includes job descriptions, frequencies of service, parts required and time allotment.
- Maintain all battery charging stations to include electrical wiring and battery connectors.
- Perform daily operational checks on equipment that is in work area, battery charger, and eye was station.
- Perform non- routine maintenance by work order only. The work order should be entered by the planner before work is performed.
- Perform safety checks on the equipment after any service is provided.
- Fill out parts requisition forms for ordering by the maintenance purchaser.
- Maintain a minimum of spare parts inventory for fleet operations. This includes min/max and organization of the same.
- Operate drills, saws, grinders, welding apparatus, presses and a variety of manual tools to repair and maintain equipment.
- Use standard inspection forms during inspections. Maintain inspections on file for each lift.
- Communicate progress of repair work, potential problems and general functioning to engineering and warehouse management.
- Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside vendors as required expediting fleet maintenance uptime.
- Maintain work area in a clean and safe manner.
Must Haves:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two or more years of industrial maintenance (to include welding, hydraulic and pneumatic) with heavy emphasis on electrical skills
- Passing score on a pre-employment mechanical aptitude test administered by Icelandic USA, Inc.
- Ability to read, speak clearly, and understand detailed written and verbal instructions given in English
- Ability to interpret and understand documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure and maintenance manuals, and instructions furnished in prose, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to keep a routine maintenance log
- Strong and demonstrated ability to solve practical problems
- Passing grade (an 80% score) on an American Institute of Baking "Maintenance Engineering Course", within 24 months of hire date
- Ability to work in a varied temperature environment that ranges from hot (95F+) to cold (-10F)
- Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and correctable close and distance vision
