Job Description
The Director of Strategic Pricing will lead the Pricing Center of Excellence team that facilitates the development and execution of enterprise-wise pricing strategy for Agilent: this covers overall pricing architecture and model across Agilent's portfolio, pricing methodology for new product introductions, regular pricing performance assessment and bi-annual optimization, product pricing lifecycle management, and other strategic pricing actions as responses to market dynamics. This leader will partner closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Sales Enablement, Finance and Analytics to ensure product pricing aligns with market value, customer segments, and competitive dynamics. The Director of Strategic Pricing will also oversee and lead a team of analysts and policy managers, guiding them in executing data-driven pricing strategies that drive long-term growth and margin improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Overall Pricing Architecture and Model Across Agilent's Portfolio
Design and maintain Agilent's end-to-end pricing architecture to ensure consistent structure, governance, and adherence across product lines.
Implement and enforce pricing and discounting guidelines to preserve pricing integrity and strategic business objectives.
Define the optimal pricing architecture and pricing model(s) that best positions Agilent in response to market and competitive dynamics.
Regular Pricing Performance Assessment and Bi-Annual Optimization
Lead development and maintenance of pricing dashboards to track Agilent pricing performance across business units and geographies
Conduct regular reviews of pricing performance and lead performance discussions with leaders and cross-functional teams.
Lead strategy for bi-annual pricing optimization to ensure continued alignment with evolving market conditions, customer behavior, and internal objectives.
Support product marketing team to develop pricing adjustment proposals with insights from sales trends, discount patterns, and customer segmentation analysis.
Lead internal and external price change communications strategy and execution.
Product Pricing Lifecycle Management
Lead pricing discussions with product teams to determine appropriate launch prices based on product value, maturity, and expected development investment.
Engage in strategic pricing analysis to manage launch prices competitively and transfer knowledge to supporting analysts.
Manage escalation and feedback loops from internal stakeholders throughout the launch pricing process.
Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate pricing decisions with senior leadership, sales, sales enablement, product marketing, and other relevant stakeholders.
Partner with senior leadership and product managers to align lifecycle pricing strategies with product roadmap evolution and investment returns.
Manage lifecycle pricing by refining price points post-launch, driven by product enhancements, market feedback, and competitive dynamics.
Coordinate with sales and discount teams to understand pricing friction points and propose lifecycle adjustments accordingly.
Other Strategic Pricing Actions as Responses to Market Changes
Proactively monitor market shifts, competitor actions, and economic trends to recommend timely and strategic pricing responses.
Act as a strategic advisor to cross-functional teams on pricing-related matters that influence Agilent's broader market positioning.
Identify, internalize, and deploy pricing best practices across Agilent's pricing community of stakeholders
Maintain pricing platform/tools roadmap and development plan
Mentorship and Team Development
Guide pricing analysts and policy managers on Pricing CoE team in executing high-quality pricing analyses; step in when higher-level expertise or escalation is needed.
Provide structured mentorship and apprenticeships to build internal pricing expertise.
Conduct periodic performance reviews and support career development planning within the pricing team.
Qualifications
10+ years in pricing, analytics, or product-related roles, with a minimum of 5 years managing a team.
Proven ability to lead pricing strategy for both new products and existing portfolios in life science equipment, consumables and services
Deep knowledge of pricing frameworks, product lifecycle pricing, and pricing architecture.
Strong communication and influencing skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred.

Additional Details

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $163,600.00 - $306,750.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
