Marketing Legal Team

Accelerate your career by joining Okta as a member of our Marketing Legal Team! As Senior Corporate Counsel, Marketing Legal you'll be helping to build a scalable global Marketing Legal function and providing frontline marketing counseling in support of Okta's global product portfolio. We are seeking an experienced marketing lawyer to support Okta's global marketing and demand generation initiatives. This role presents an exciting opportunity to craft policies and practices inside a rapidly growing independent identity provider company, influence key initiatives and aid in our success. You will have both a meaningful role in a growing legal department and an opportunity to develop professionally with the support of a collaborative and experienced team! The role reports to Okta's Senior Director, Product Legal and is available as a remote working position.

Senior Corporate Counsel, Marketing Legal

What you'll be doing:

Consider and advise on legal, business and reputational matters globally in the areas of:



  • marketing, brand, web and print content, demand generation, events, and social media
  • substantiation, comparative and competitive activities subject to regulations
  • press releases and presentations
  • sponsorships and endorsements
  • industry analyst-related activities
  • contests, sweepstakes and promotions
  • training for marketing, sales, legal and other relevant teams
  • draft and negotiate various licensing and marketing agreements
  • pitch-in on whatever legal work needs doing, whenever it needs to be done


Personal Characteristics and Skills:

To succeed, the role requires you to possess not only exceptional analytical ability and advocacy skills but also have highly developed and effective collaboration and communication methods and habits in a team environment; and the ability to integrate legal advice and business knowledge, while providing balanced and actionable advice regarding risks and benefits. You must be very collaborative with a positive attitude, flexibility and sense of humor; you will need to demonstrate high EQ and a strong history of successful cross-functional collaboration; we need a self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced work environment; we are looking for someone with a high degree of accountability and professional drive.

What you'll bring to the role:



  • A J.D. and in good standing to practice law with a minimum of 5 years of experience at a publicly-traded technology company
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to adapt to and thrive in a dynamic environment of rapid growth, with experience in fast-paced tech driven companies
  • Be organized, efficient and resourceful with strong follow-through abilities
  • Excellent business sense and legal judgment, with the ability to be strategic as well as detail-oriented
  • Be able to simultaneously manage and stage workloads, multiple client demands and shifting priorities within a rapidly evolving environment
  • Experience counseling on IP matters a plus

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:
$176,000 $283,000 USD
