Meet the Team

Product Legal provides first-line legal support to the Product Organization and Common Hardware groups during design, development, launch, and ongoing provision of Cisco's products and services. This team collaborates with legal colleagues on third-party licensing, data privacy and security, AI governance and regulation, IP, market access, and go-to-market strategies.

Within Product Legal, the Offer Strategy and Product Operations Team serves as the primary legal partner to the Product & Business Operations organization and primary Product Legal liaison to the Sales Legal organization, in addition to leading important cross-functional legal initiatives that span across products and business units. The team is instrumental in advising on use and access of telemetry and customer date to support product innovation in accordance with regulations, building adaptable, customer-first contracting processes, integrating legal and regulatory reviews into Cisco's product development lifecycle, and participating in providing guidance and reviewing the adoption of AI, automation and other technology in the delivery of legal support.


Your Impact
  • Serve as lead counsel to the SVP, Operations in support of the Product & Business Operations team in enabling their strategy, including advising on the refresh of the product development lifecycle (e.g., product build out, bringing to market, Last Day of Sale, etc.)
  • Representing Product Legal and multiple business units in various cross-functional efforts such as AI implementation, data strategy, policy updates, use of Legal technology and processes, etc.
  • Lead a small, high-caliber team while flexing up to lead small projects or co-lead major initiatives for Product Legal and multiple BUs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D. or equivalent, licensed to practice law, and at least 12 years of relevant legal experience, in-house and/or law firm experience, with at least 3 years of in-house experience.
  • Significant background in technology law (e.g., licensing, drafting, product development, negotiations, regulatory guidance, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and program management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle simultaneous projects for multiple businesses under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand complex contractual, business, and legal issues, assess risk, and provide concise, plain English, business-focused legal advice.
  • Experience with privacy and data protection and use issues, including a solid understanding of global data protection and use laws (e.g., GDPR, EU Data Act, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Practical business judgment and ability to balance legal requirements and business risk along with the ability to find common ground and be collaborative under pressure
  • Experience supporting the development and sale of technology products and services on an international scale, including dealing with tax, regulatory, engineering, intellectual property, etc.
  • A consulting mentality - problem-solving and task-focused with creative conflict management and constructive inquiry skills, including understanding the status quo without being bound to it
  • Capability to quickly absorb, evaluate, and respond to novel issues and craft creative solutions
  • Strategic problem solver and easily adapt to differing needs and interests of business partners and Cisco's customers
