Supervisor, Mental Health Crisis Services- Assessment and Referral Center - Days

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Supervisor, Mental Health Crisis Services

  • Hourly Pay Range: $35.16-$54.50. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Location: Evanston, IL (Evanston Hospital)

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full time

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

  • On-Call: yes, as needed for the program

  • Required Travel: Yes, to Highland Park, Glenbrook, Skokie Hospitals

Job Summary:

Supervises and coordinates the duties of the BH Crisis Case Managers in the North Region of NS-EEH Acute Care hospitals. Serves as role model and clinical expert. Assures the delivery of quality care, serves as daily operational contact for case management and/or other assigned clinical staff. Collaborates with program managers in enhancing clinical systems.

What you will do:

  • Supervises the daily operations for assigned staff, including but not limited to, scheduling, staffing, problem solving, payroll and clinical supervision. Serves as initial contact for customer service complaints and assures follow-up is completed.

  • Participates in the Hospitals QI Program. Develops and maintains QI Programs for assigned clinical areas. Responsible for gathering data, interpreting trends, and developing appropriate action plans. Reports to the QI committee as scheduled.

  • Demonstrates good time management. Completes duties as assigned. Direct patient care may include but not be limited to assessments, precerts.

  • Assures fiscal responsibility and accountability for both the department and hospital. Coordinates and monitors supply orders, requests for workshops and other related expenses.

  • Interviews, hires, orients, trains, develops, and evaluates the performances of and, when necessary, disciplines and/or discharges department personnel. Provides direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolves complaints and responds to inquiries regarding department operations.

  • Collaborates with the Clinical Team on complex admissions and appropriate placement.

  • Collaborates with BH Leadership to ensure smooth workflows for patient admissions and movement.

  • Collaborates and creates working relationships with NS-EEH acute care ED and medical floor leaders to ensure smooth workflows and patient movement between the hospitals

What you will need:

Education: Master's Degree in a health-related field

  • Certification: Current State of Illinois licensure LCSW, LCPC

  • Experience: Minimum of three years of behavioral health experience during which there is demonstrated a progressive responsibility of duties.

Unique or Preferred Skills:

  • Substantial knowledge base of insurance plans such as commercial, managed care and capitated plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and Worker's Comp

  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the mental health code (MHC) , Joint Commission and the Confidentiality Act. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of hospital admission policies.

  • Knowledge of DSM IV-R (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) diagnostic criteria and patient rights and law pertaining to mental health

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
