Summary

Under the supervision of the Technical Training Manager, the On-Boarding Instructor's primary purpose is to manage LiftOne's technician on-boarding and apprenticeship programs.

Essential Functions

  • Partner across LiftOne teams to schedule and implement on-boarding for LiftOne technicians.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and leadership to schedule technician on-boarding activities.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain training materials and curricula for on-boarding and the apprenticeship program.
  • Maintain a strong partnership and relationship with external agencies, including NC Apprenticeship, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Veterans Affairs to implement the apprenticeship program in accordance with requirements.
  • Proactively develop and revise training materials, in accordance with brand standards, to provide high-quality and effective training.
  • Lead activities to support training readiness and execution. Partner with branches to ensure materials and training aids are available to support effective implementation of scheduled training.
  • Manage in-person and virtual training environments.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training by evaluating trainee feedback, exam scores, return on investment, etc.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, analyze costs and benefits, and develop implementation strategies to continuously improve training. Strive to find better, faster, and simpler ways to build our technicians' skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
  • Mentor new and junior instructors and subject matter expert trainers to develop and improve their instructional skills.
  • Advocate for and support technician career development to the maximum extent possible. Partner with Career Development Managers and branch management to provide feedback on technician development. Assist with career development guidelines, progression paths, and level proficiency assessment testing.
  • Act as a leader and mentor in the organization. Model Weisiger values. Provide coaching and reinforcement of safety and management standards.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Required:

  • Must possess a HYShield (HYMH) Champion Technician Certification.
  • Seven years of lift truck technician experience (or similar) required.
  • Must have the ability to teach and convey technical information in a manner that promotes learning.

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years of instructional experience, which includes developing training materials and implementing training.
  • Training program management experience (i.e., leading all aspects of training program administration and implementation).
  • Working knowledge of a systematic approach to training (i.e., ADDIE Model or similar).
  • Experience instructing in the lift truck industry or similar technical/industrial industry.
  • Experience administering an apprenticeship program.
  • Proficiency working in learning management systems, learning content management systems, and proficiency with e-learning development software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn and use industry specific computer programs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, depending on site location, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
