MMSD is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Real Estate Coordinator in the Finance Division. Reporting to the Real Estate Supervisor, you will assist in acquiring and overseeing the real estate rights required and obtained by MMSD in conformance with our policies, state laws and administrative codes, and federal laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with MMSD's engineering design team and operations staff to determine real estate rights required for the development and/or operation of MMSD facilities and develop the necessary acquisition to enable property purchases using condemnation.
- Assist with negotiations with property owners to secure property rights required by MMSD in accordance with Wisconsin Statute Chapter 32 and Public Law 91-646.
- Manage existing real estate properties and property rights.
- Track real estate holdings, activities, and expenses required to acquire real estate rights.
- Travel to various sites across the greater Milwaukee area to investigate site specific issues, meet with property owners or other stakeholders, and coordinate access with other users.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in public administration, business administration, economics, real estate, or a related field.
- One year of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with acquiring or managing residential, multi-family, commercial, industrial, recreational, agricultural, and/or conservation properties.
- Ability to effectively problem-solve issues.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Computer software proficiency.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record at time of application, during selection process, and throughout employment.

Physical Requirements:
- Work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 lbs. of force.
- Work regularly requires using hands and sitting. Work occasionally requires standing, walking, and speaking or hearing.
- Work requires the ability to move safely over uneven terrain and in situations with construction and/or vehicular traffic.
Sensory Requirements:
- Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Environmental Exposures:
- Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location.
- Work occasionally requires entering occupied and vacant buildings that may be in an unknown sate of repair and/or occupancy.
- Work occasionally occurs in areas of construction and/or vehicular traffic.
