Posting Summary |
Rutgers School of Nursing is seeking a Manager, Grants & Contracts located in Newark, NJ . Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager, Grants and Contracts oversees the grants and contracts
lifecycle as it relates to Research and Sponsored Projects within the School of Nursing. Provides full oversight of all grant post
award administration for the School of Nursing and provides independent accounting and budgeting support to Directors and
Principal Investigators. Manages all aspects that fall within the post-award category, overseeing the allocation of salaries to grants
and to ensure consistent reconciliation of all sponsored projects and projects related to research activities. Manages the Effort
reporting process, working with supporting staff and PIs to ensure timely allocation of effort on projects. Coordinates Effort
Certification and Reporting Technology (
ECRT) certifications in line with the University's required timeline.
Duties include:
- Responsible for the grants and contracts activities within the School of Nursing. Oversees all grants, contracts, gifts, endowments, restricted, and unrestricted projects related to research and other sponsored programs within SON.
- Allocates resources, monitors and instructs Principal Investigators and Administration with the management of their budgets.
- Creates and implements internal quality assurances and controls for all grant and contract activities.
- Manages supporting staff.

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field plus five (5) years of relevant grant administration professional experience in a financial /accounting function.
- Two (2) years of previous supervisory/managerial experience required. The ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and a professional/courteous manner when working with both internal and external constituents.
- Demonstrated analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information.
- Excellent computer skills and experience using spreadsheet, charting, and other software tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and clearly articulate analytical results and findings to a diverse set of people with varying skillsets.
- The ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially with regards to sensitive or confidential financial or organizational matters.
- The ability to respond flexibly and positively in all circumstances, and to work calmly under pressure.
- The ability to interact and work effectively with diverse people and a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to, Faculty, Administrators, Research Staff, University Officers and any additional key points of contact.
- Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
