Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Nurse for the Rutgers Summer Arts Institute at Rutgers Community Arts , the Mason Gross School of Arts. This position is responsible for receiving and reviewing all required student health forms prior to the start of our summer program for middle and high school students. The Nurse acts as our on site medical professional to provide care for children ages 12-18 throughout a series of residential and commuter arts summer intensives. The work will take place from June 1, 2025 through August 1, 2025. The Nurse should have experience and is proficient in working with children and teens.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Serves as the primary health care professional to students ages 12 through 18.
- Administers general First Aid, provides approved prescription medication to students as necessary, assesses and treats physical injuries, responds to emergency injuries that may arise during the days/nights/weekends.
- Provides communication about health relative to the student with parents and interacts extensively with the students, their families, faculty, and staff to provide the highest quality health care possible.
- Enforces policies and guidelines from Rutgers Community Arts, Mason Gross School of the Arts and Rutgers University.
- Collects, maintains, and reviews all medical and health related forms from the student.
- Determines supplies and other needs to prepare for summer programs.
- Efficiently and effectively arise to other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Successful finalist must have current certification and/or license in at least ONE of the following areas: RN or LPN, Paramedic, EMT or first-responder, BOC-certified athletic trainer.
- Must be certified in CPR.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with children ages 12 through 18.

- Ability to effectively communicate and interact effectively with students, families, and administrators.
- Ability to build relationships with faculty, staff and students and any stakeholders.
