What You'll Do

As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will:



  • Provides appropriate level of leadership for the industrial design function within the corporation including design philosophy, market image, and appearance of its products, accessories, packaging and related graphics.


  • Participates in the formulation of design strategies, criteria, goals, and objectives for new and existing products.


  • Conducts user research and analyze healthcare needs to develop innovative medical product designs.


  • Creates sketches, 3D models, prototypes, and detailed renderings of medical devices.


  • Works with cross-functional teams, including engineers, regulatory specialists, and manufacturers, to ensure feasibility and compliance with medical standards.


  • Ensures the optimization of product ergonomics, usability, and aesthetics to enhance patient and healthcare provider experience.


  • Stays up to date with industry trends, materials, and medical technology advancements.


  • Supports the development of product documentation including design specifications and testing procedures.


  • Promotes leading edge, contemporary design standards to support company's competitive advantage.


  • Handles the conceptualization and development of new products having a higher-than-average level of difficulty, complexity or breadth of scope, for which few precedents exist. Includes creating aspects of form, aesthetics, physical, ethnographic and psychological interfaces between users and products, and system compatibility where required.


  • Uses SolidWorks, solid-model and collaborate on new designs with engineers to help transition concept to actual product features, function, and appearance.


  • Engages with material suppliers to actively introduce and promote new innovative materials and processes to the design engineering group. Includes collaborating with these suppliers to formulate solutions that apply to the products being designed.


  • Influences design engineering to determine materials, construction, mechanisms, shape, color, surface finish, manufacturing processes and packaging in cooperation with other business functions that are involved in the new product development process.


  • Responsible for behaving in a professional manner both internally and externally in relationships that positively impact the company's reputation and comply with the company's policies and practices. Responsible for being accountable and committed to demonstrating Breg's cultural beliefs and achieving the key results of the company.


  • Responsible for promoting Breg's culture within the organization using established tools such as storytelling, providing focused feedback, and recognition. The performance of the position is aligned with the culture of commitment and accountability, following the steps of: See it, Own it, Solve it, and Do it.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive excellence in patient care and business solutions.


What You Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in medical product design, preferably with knowledge of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) regulations.
  • Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, or equivalent) and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Strong understanding of human factors, usability, and materials in medical device design is required
  • Knowledge of typical manufacturing methods used for orthopedic bracing (molding, stamping, cut-and-sew) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to prototype and test designs using rapid prototyping techniques is required.
  • Experience in medical device design and manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience with durable medical equipment/orthopedic products is preferred.
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting manufacturing and business documents, procedures, general business periodicals and professional journals.
  • Ability to understand general dimensioning practices and tolerances with regards to plastic and metal component design.
  • Ability to develop and write both manufacturing and business reports and correspondence relating to a broad range of functional activities.
  • Ability to understand and explain both manufacturing and business issues to a diverse population.

Compensation

Salary Range: $130,700.00 - $140,000.00. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as experience, skills, and business needs. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for [bonus/commission/equity].
