PURPOSE: The Maintenance Supervisor is to supervise the activities of the welders, boiler makers, and scaffolding craftsmen to accomplish objectives in maintenance. Additionally, responsible for screening work orders, identifying scope and performing analysis of required level of planning. The candidate is also responsible for providing scheduling for daily piping, boiler maker, and scaffolding maintenance activities, scheduled unit shutdowns, preparing job packages for expense projects, and providing scheduling assistance for emergency shutdowns including documentation of work scope activities and results. This position interacts with other Maintenance personnel and reports directly to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager. KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates daily job duties for maintenance personnel.
- Plan and execute maintenance tasks to achieve high equipment uptime and integrity.
- Responsible for initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning
- Complete maintenance engineering project as directed.
- Direct major equipment repairs select and follow work in repair shops, select and supervise contractors and chosen vendors.
- Train and coach, the maintenance craft to evaluate and improve performance of the team in a continuous manner.
- Establish the performance standards for maintenance utilizing KPI's, develop the method of measurement and provide timely and routing feedback to those responsible for the performance.
- Learn and apply Calumet engineering standards.
- Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job requirements.
- Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work.
- Makes safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out procedures available to employees. Ensures that all aspects of the existing company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan.
- Estimates required hours for each work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required to perform each task.
- Plans jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce
- Determines and includes QA/QC requirements on jobs.
- Procures equipment and specialized tools required to perform work.
- Gathers necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Provides budgetary estimates for work packages that fall within 10-15% accuracy.
- Writes clear and concise work packages & procedures for piping.
- Plans parts for all projects to increase "wrench time" and maximize efficiency.
- Compiles information into a job package that is ready for skilled trades - clearly communicates with skilled trades regarding critical steps in the process.
- Prints and delivers work orders to the skilled trades in conjunction with the weekly work schedule.
- Upon completion of jobs, communicates with skilled trades regarding ideas and procedures that would make future jobs more efficient.
- Ensures that bills of materials remain current.
- Conducts equipment and repair parts data entry and management.
- Completes any duties that may be assigned by the Engineering and Maintenance Manager.
- Ensures that equipment in backlog has purchase orders assigned and tracking status of delivery dates.
- Works with area managers to set priorities on which job needs to be planned first.
- Ensures estimator tools are used to plan jobs for accurate job length.
- Procures quotes for jobs from outside contractors.
- Receives and reviews work requests that have been authorized by the owners of plant equipment.
- Prepares daily work schedule for maintenance activities and small projects.
- Consults with requestor, affected supervisor, or project owner to get clear definition of work scope.
- Ensures Work Orders are coded correctly.
- Requests vendor quotes for material/services based on work scope.
- Enters service/material requisitions for maintenance and turnaround.
- Tracks material from requisition to daily work schedule.
- Maintains the records essential to the effective operation of the planning and scheduling such as equipment specific job plans.
- Responsible for closure of work orders in MMIS system. Documenting repair scope and updating equipment files accordingly.
- Enters equipment and spare parts in the MMIS system as needed to help maintain an up-to-date equipment database and parts inventory.
- Responsible for ensuring spare parts inventory to a minimum.
- Participates in rotation of supervision for callout maintenance on off shifts and weekends.
- Fills in for Maintenance Supervisor and/or I&E Supervisor when out.
- Builds the Schedule in Excel.
- Perform plant housekeeping and ensure crafts does the same.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years' work experience as a maintenance supervisor or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Able to efficiently perform internet searches and research.
- Can read and interpret vendor manuals and drawings.
- Performs cost analysis and works within a structured budget.
- Writes detailed repair reports.
- Able to develop plans and ensure tasks are completed.
- Ability to lead a team of craft technicians.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Prior supervisory experience highly preferred
- 4-year college degree
- Computer skills: JDE/SAP experience: Spreadsheet and Microsoft (Excel, Word), Project Management Software (MS Project, etc.) Email (Outlook)
