Works under the direct and general supervision of Dr. Milstone, and in accordance with established hospital policies, in a laboratory investigating changes in the cardiac microvasculature that occur during long COVID and epigenetic inheritance of metabolic disease risk. Conducts routine experiments to acquire, manage and analyze digital image files of biologic specimens using established methodologies. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using basic statistics. May perform literature searches under the direction of the supervisor.

1. Under general supervision, performs routine tests following established methodologies including immunostaining fixed (detoxified) human and animal tissue and tissue sections, obtaining bright field and fluorescence digital images of stained specimens, and managing the resulting digital image files for analysis and archival storage.

2. Under general supervision participates in developing new analytic procedures using digital image files.

3. Records data and summarizes and analyzes results using basic statistics.

4. Prepares laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and equipment.

5. Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.

6. Participates in general lab activities including routine bio-safety activities.

7. Discusses progress of work regularly with the supervisor.

8. All other duties as assigned.

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment. 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
