EARN WHILE YOU LEARN!

Through a collaborative partnership MaineHealth, Maine Adult Education programs and the Maine Community College System, we're offering a FREE 6-week, state approved CNA training program.

FREE Tuition through the Maine Community College System.

CASAS testing is required and administered through your local Adult Education center to participate in the apprentice program.

Updated immunization records are required upon applying.

Small class size with individual support, taught by experienced Registered Nurses (RNs), at five MaineHealth Local Hospital System Sites: Franklin Memorial Hospital, Mid Coast Hospital, Maine Medical Center Biddeford, Stephens Memorial Hospital, and Waldo County General Hospital

  • Includes the state CNA required curriculum of: 70 hours of class time, 20 hours of essential skills labs and 40 hours of clinical training at local hospitals
  • This will include one day of MaineHealth general orientation and a CPR course.
  • Quizzes will be done daily and an average 70% is necessary to stay in the program and pass the class.

CNA Education Program Requirements:

Learners will be required to:

  • Attend MaineHealth's CNA course as a paid, short-term temporary benefits-eligible employee at 32 hours/week for 6 weeks.
  • CNA Education Program position is paid at $17.34/hr., while completing the program requirements.
  • Fulfill all the responsibilities of the CNA course, including attendance at all classes, labs and clinical as scheduled, promptness, dependability and confidentiality.
  • Satisfy all obligations and requirements regularly required of MaineHealth employees.
  • Successfully complete the requirements to obtain CNA certification for placement on the Maine State CNA Registry.

Upon completion work schedules as a CNA will be 12 hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am) including weekend rotations

Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the Certified Nursing Assistant Program Instructor and/or Clinical Supervisor, Certified Nursing Assistant Preceptors, and/or long-term care facility's Charge Nurses, the Apprentice - Certified Nursing Assistant role provides direct care to assigned residents/patients.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Must be accepted into an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
  3. Experience: N/A
