Overview / Job Summary:

The Faculty, Mental Health Technician is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation presentation and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities for WSU Tech.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching courses that meet program objectives and outcomes within the Mental Health Technician curriculum.
  • Developing instructional materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments.
  • Advising and mentoring students on academic and career pathways.
  • Participating in program review and assessment activities to ensure the quality and relevance of the curriculum.
  • Staying up-to-date with current trends in mental health care and integrating these into the curriculum.
  • Engaging with community partners and stakeholders to enhance student learning experiences and opportunities.
  • Participating in professional development activities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge in the mental health field.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the teaching discipline or subfield combined with 3+ years teaching experience in the discipline or subfield will be considered in lieu of a completed master's degree. A professional development plan to include a master's degree must be developed and pursued.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Qualified faculty are identified primarily by credentials, but other factors may be considered in addition to the degree earned. For example, the ability to design curricula or develop and implement effective pedagogy through years of teaching with satisfactory performance.
  • Must be licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse in Kansas and have at least two years of experience in psychiatric or developmental disability nursing.
  • Basic computer knowledge including all Microsoft Office products and programs
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Ability to fulfill all duties with minimal supervision and to work independently
  • Assess situations rapidly and make logical decisions in a timely manner
  • Analyze facts and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and multiple priorities simultaneously
