General Notes

Purpose

Provides editorial skills for the development of 550+ Process Industry Practices. Edit Practices for correctness, grammar, and format. Support volunteer authors and key contributors. Perform related duties as required.

Responsibilities
  • Edit PIP Practice drafts and data sheets for editorial consistency, correctness, grammar, and format. Includes obtaining PGP/PRP from Function Team Leaders for approval. Edit Practices and data sheets at each stage of development to prepare for the next stage of publication. Update CAD drawings, if applicable.

  • Coordinate and manage the publication of PIPs 550+ Practices using Document Management System (DMS) from proposal to final publication, to include communication with team leaders, members & non-members, as needed, to maintain publishing progress and provide member support.

  • Convert documents to publishing formats. Post published Practices to PIP website, DMS, and PIP archive, to include pricing and abstract. Track number of Practices published monthly and quarterly and publish details of the Editor Hopper. Send notification of recently published Practices to members and distributors.

  • Cross check/review published Practices to verify accuracy, ensure links are working properly, and dates are consistent between in Member and Non-contributing Member areas of PIP website. Conduct monthly and annual audits of Practices listed in public areas of PIP website and distributor websites. Verify links to distributor websites are working properly and ensure distributor listing and pricing is accurate. Communicate with webmasters or distributors to make corrections.

  • Attend PIP meetings and events. Support PIP Function Teams, Committees, and Staff as needed on-site. Participate in Work Processes Committee (WPC) and Function Team Leader Team (FTLT) meetings, as well as Function Team and Task Team meetings, as requested (in-person and virtually). Provide administrative support to the Steering Team, prepare and publish minutes. Assist with preparation for out-of-town quarterly meetings and events as requested. Participate in meeting evaluation and process improvement discussions following events.

  • Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. Attend staff and other internal meetings, as required. Complete professional development & training, as requested.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of relevant experience. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent time management, project, and planning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to establish strong working relationships with business contacts, especially technical contacts. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Suite Excellent time management, project, and planning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to establish strong working relationships with business contacts, especially technical contacts.

Hourly Rate

$27.50

Work Shift
  • 30 hours per week

  • Occasional, regular travel outside of Austin, Texas periodically requires an irregular work schedule with longer than average workdays and work hours exceeding a regular work week. Some overtime, weekends, and holidays are possible. Hybrid work environment
