Position Summary

Under the direction of Advancement Leadership, the Major Gifts Officer will play a critical role in achieving our annual fundraising goal by cultivating and securing major gifts from individual donors, foundations, and corporations. This position requires a strategic thinker with a passion for our mission and a proven track record in major gift fundraising.

Responsibilities

    Donor Identification and Cultivation including: * Identify and research potential major donors. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions and prospect information in the donor database. * Develop and implement personalized cultivation strategies to engage potential donors. * Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors through regular communication and engagement including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, emails, meetings, events, etc. * Plan and execute donor cultivation events, including private receptions, luncheons, and other special events.
  • Solicitation and Stewardship: * Prepare and present compelling proposals and solicitations to major donors. * Manage a portfolio of major donors, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up. * Build and maintain long-term relationships with major donors, ensuring they are engaged and informed about the impact of their contributions. * Ensure donors feel valued and appreciated through personalized stewardship activities, including thank-you notes, impact reports, and recognition events.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: * Create and execute a comprehensive major gifts fundraising plan in collaboration with Advancement Leadership. * Set and achieve annual fundraising targets, with a focus on securing gifts of $10,000 and above. Support capital campaigns and other fundraising initiatives. Annual fundraising goal of $2M. * Develop personalized solicitation strategies for each major donor prospect.
  • Collaboration and Support: * Work closely with other advancement staff to align major gift strategies with overall fundraising goals. * Collaborate with program staff to understand funding needs and develop compelling cases for support. * Prepare executives and board members for donor meetings and solicitations.
  • Reporting and Analysis: * Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions in the fundraising database. * Prepare regular reports on major gift activities and outcomes. * Analyze donor data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Communications, Public Relations or related field required

Experience

  • 7-9 years Major gift fundraising or donor relations within the non-profit sector required
  • 1-3 years Experience handling sensitive and confidential donor and employee information required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven track record of securing significant major gifts required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to think strategically and creatively about major gift opportunities required
  • Passion for the healthcare sector and the mission of the organization required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders required
  • Knowledge of IRS regulations and requirements for non-profit organizations preferred
  • Fundraising and successful track record securing four and five-figure gifts preferred
  • Proficiency in donor database management and fundraising software; Familiarity with fundraising software (e.g., Raiser's Edge) is a plus preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive - CFRE International upon hire preferred

  • PC use required required
