Technical Research Assistant I / Mizuno Lab

Working under the direction of PI, the research assistant is responsible for the organization, coordination, and conduct on a daily basis of technical activities related to orthopedic research.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Supports investigators with primary cell culture experiments.
2.Maintains data notebooks.
3.Prepares reports on data as instructed.
4.Ensures ordering and stocking of needed supplies.
5.Assists with the maintenance of a clean, orderly, and safe laboratory.
6.Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree required.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities a must. The applicant should have a strong academic record, must be creative, self-driven, reliable, and motivated to learn. The position offers the opportunity for education and hands-on learning in orthopedic research.

Prior training in bench methods is preferred.

Ability to communicate with multiple levels of staff and to work effectively with others in a team environment.

Small animal can be handled after institutional training.

Competency with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint is required.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Success in being trained in needed laboratory skills
  • Some math and statistics skills required
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to request help when needed
