We are currently seeking a Research Associate to become part of an existing, experienced team of scientists based in Wilmington, DE supporting host construction, improvement, and product development projects. Candidates must have proven experience and a strong foundation in analytical chemistry, biochemistry and/or molecular biology. This will be a predominantly lab-based role with a focus on high throughput strain development and screening as well as understanding and optimizing performance of biocatalysts in the relevant industrial applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply high throughput approaches for sample analysis using (u)HPLC and other quantification methods.
  • Contribute to project-related workstreams to understand performance of our biocatalysts and their products in the relevant industrial applications.
  • Support optimization, analysis and improvement of biocatalysts based on project direction and data.
  • Carry out work that requires collaboration with others as part of a global project team to deliver on project goals as directed by project leader.
  • Generate and effectively communicate data.
  • Prepare technical reports, data summaries, presentations, protocols, and other technical and regulatory documents.
  • Understanding of basic scientific principles of analytical chemistry, molecular biology, and biochemistry.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Able to deliver consistent high-quality experimental data from analytical experiments.
  • Goal oriented and capable of task-oriented delivery.
  • Hands-on-mentality and a strong affinity for lab work.
  • Willing to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-functional team to deliver on specific project goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work and collaborate with others to solve problems.
  • Able to adapt to changes, drive multiple workstreams in parallel, and thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Ability to be effective in a growing, dynamic, and changing business environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology.
  • 1-3 years of research experience with carbohydrates, small molecules, proteins or peptide quantification using (u)HPLC.
  • Knowledge of chromatographic principles and quantitative analytical methodology.
