POSITION DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Financial Planning and Analysis Manage, the Senior Financial Analyst assists in the preparation of annual budgets, conducts monthly actual vs. budget flux analyses, develops and maintains 5-year forecast, and assists in completion of quarterly reports, and analyzes new businesses. This position requires a well-rounded background in accounting and finance and work well with other areas of the company.
The Senior Financial Analyst interfaces with various internal departments and must work exceptionally well with employees of all levels. The incumbent in this position is responsible for embracing and utilizing available technology as communication and data gathering tools in performing routine and complex duties for the financial planning team.

As a skilled employee and responsible professional, the incumbent must work independently, exercise initiative and judgment in the performance of a broad range of administrative support responsibilities in an environment of routinely sensitive and confidential issues. Therefore, the employee must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the company's management staff, visitors and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
Interfaces with various business owners to complete annual capital and operations budget
Responsible for the development of company budget matrix
Responsible for the monthly flux write up between actual versus budget/prior year
Provides insightful analyses on trended Return on Equity and Rate of Return for both actual and budget
Assists in the preparation of quarterly board package
Works closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and Regulatory Affairs Department to assess impact of general rate cases, CPUC decisions and other actions. Among other things, this would include understanding the impact of general rate case decisions on the regulated utilities and affiliated company's 5-year forecast
Supports Manager in analyzing acquisitions and new business opportunities
Assists in updating and modifying company's financial forecast model and provides insightful what if scenarios
Responsible for providing gap analysis between Street Analysts EPS expectation versus company's internal budget
Calculates and Tracks Company and peer group stock performance
Assists Manager with data compilation for the rate case filings and responsible for the data compilation on the quarterly audit requests
Assists operations and general office departments as needed
Prepares and maintains policies and procedures to ensure internal controls
Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Economic, Finance, and Accounting or related discipline
Seven years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budget/projection, and financial model
Ability to read and analyze financial reports and present information
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with other departments and personnel

May include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
