POSITION TITLE: Continuous Improvement Engineer POSITION LOCATION: 1 Lone Star Pass, Building 41, San Antonio, TX 78264 JOB DESCRIPTION: Identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBP's), and then work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them. Assess the current state of the department or plant's value streams. Develop future state vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan. Coach CI team, including department or plant staff, Lean Six Sigma Black Belts and other CI practitioners (Green Belts, Lean practitioners, KT practitioners) to apply correct tools and the DMAIC milestones for continuous improvement. Establish C.I. Profit Plan and subsequent Forecast goals. Drive team to achieve. Ensure Process Owner involvement in SOW development and team leadership. Responsible for IDP and succession planning for all C.I. resources, including Lean Implementers and Black Belts. Responsible for developing a "pull" system to replace Lean Six Sigma Black Belts with qualified "management-potential" personnel. Use standard tracking and reporting systems, will prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product/process quality, and savings goals. Collaborate with leadership to develop a department or plant C.I. Roadmap, driving breakthrough or Best-in-Class performance that balances resources between internal efficiency and external customer-focused effectiveness projects through. Assist Process Owners in identifying barriers to project success and helps to drive changes when needed. Drive and support best practice sharing and implementation across business units. Identify and bring forward to Champion new project opportunities. Assist Plant Manager in any strategic initiative that will help in compliance to standards, implementing new systems, and designing creative solutions that will continuously improve the plant. Ensure the protection of the environment, prevention of pollution and the continual improvement of the Environmental Management System. Provide leadership in developing measures and practices that prevent accident and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA/TCEQ standards. This includes: continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous environmental, health, and safety conditions. Ensure environmental, health and safety hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded. Assess engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE on an on-going basis. Assist in the investigation of accidents. Identify hazardous situations that are associated with the accident. Stop and prevent unsafe actions. stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools, stop work and/or have employees leave a work area. Investigate all near misses and other environmental/safety-related incidents that have occurred within the incident area. Ensure the results of environmental/safety audits are documented. Monitor the investigation of accidents and injuries. Ensure that corrective actions are taken; and providing recommendations for ways to prevent similar accidents. Ensure that all incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Travel requirements: 20% domestic. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field. 1 year of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or a related position. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Line Balancing; (2) Business data analysis; (3) Continuous Improvement measures; and (4) Lean Manufacturing.
