This position serves as the Nurse Planner in a fast-paced, growing, entrepreneurial interprofessional continuing education environment. A passion for education, a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of teamwork, and a desire to see your fellow nurses and other healthcare professionals learn and grow are at the heart of this role. This is a unique community outreach, interprofessional faculty position housed within the Sinclair School of Nursing (SSON). The person holding this position will be a faculty member within SSON while working predominantly as a nursing expert on the Continuing Education for Health Professions (CEHP) team. CEHP is administratively housed in MU Extension and was created by the merger of MU Nursing Outreach and Continuing Medical Education and is designed to deliver relevant learning to an interdisciplinary healthcare audience. CEHP is a division of the Office of Health Outreach, Policy, and Education (HOPE). HOPE brings together these various units: CEHP (MU Extension), Rural Scholars Program (School of Medicine), Center for Health Policy (College of Health Sciences) and the Missouri Telehealth Network/Show-Me ECHO program (SOM). Working collaboratively, these units support an integrated approach to community health and embody the University's commitment as a land-grant institution to improve the health and well-being of all Missourians. The Office of HOPE is making significant contributions to advance the health of Missourians, to garner additional grant funding, and to help the University of Missouri achieve its strategic vision. This Clinical Instructor/Nurse Planner position is a Non Tenure Track clinical appointment in Continuing Education for Health Professions (CEHP). It is a 1.00 FTE twelve-month appointment and is accountable to the Director of Continuing Education for Health Professions (Extension). This individual either meets or will meet the criteria for a Primary Nurse Planner/Nurse Planner as required by the Midwest Multistate Division (MSD) of the American Nurses' Credentialing Center (ANCC). A successful candidate who does not already meet these criteria will work with CEHP's team to do so. This position is based in Columbia, MO, but may be considered hybrid. There is some travel (<5%) mostly for off-site events. Responsibilities 1. Integrate evidence-based principles of andragogy in continuing nursing professional development program planning using multiple teaching-learning methods to promote transfer of learning to the work setting in order to improve health care and health outcomes. 2. Keep current with rapidly changing health care scene and implications for continuing nursing professional development and its role in improving health outcomes. Be knowledgeable about the nursing continuing education process and ensure that the educational activity is developed in compliance with ANCC/Midwest Multi-State Division accreditation criteria (https://midwestnurses.org/wp-content/uploads/PNP-NP-Roles-and-Responsibilities-2025.pdf) including but not limited to: a. Being actively involved in planning, implementing and evaluating; b. Ensuring the use of appropriate educational design and adult learning principles c. Guiding the determination of measurable learning outcomes to address identified learning gaps d. Mitigating potential relevant financial relationships of persons in control of content e. Reviewing all relevant materials related to presenters, marketing, etc, and maintaining accreditation files 3. Be knowledgeable about and/or willing to learn accreditation criteria for other healthcare professionals, so as to develop programs suitable for an interprofessional audience. 4. Ease and/or adaptability in using technology to promote teaching and learning in face-to-face and virtual environments. 5. Maintain high quality accurate documentation, and assists in writing applications for continuing approval as a CE provider through the Midwest MSD, also annual reports for Midwest MSD and other reports as needed. 6. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with a. Practicing professionals b. Educators c. Subject matter experts d. Local and statewide organizational partners e. University of Missouri departments and divisions 7. Represents the educational outreach mission of the Sinclair School of Nursing to the nursing community throughout the state. Qualifications
