Job Description

Highly skilled technical position responsible for support of plant's quality assurance functions. These

functions include but are not limited to - assist in maintaining GMP standards, prerequisite programs, food safety and product security, Real SPC management, defect analysis and data assessment. This position has the authority for assisting the Quality Supervisor in assignment and control of the various internal functions including shift duties of a Quality Auditor.

Pay range between $24.10-$26.65 per hour, based on skills, ability and experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be fully aware of current manufacturing production needs and schedules.
  • Follow all established safety rules and guidelines in the Employee Handbook and as stated in the various safety related training programs.
  • Analyze daily testing results and visual reports for manufactured products.
  • Qualify new product by performing the necessary tests prior to its introduction to manufacturing.
  • Ensure that all testing equipment is properly maintained and standardized as well as removing and repairing substandard equipment if found in use.
  • Maintain and adjust lab equipment and keep lab clean at all times.
  • Take initiative to investigate quality issues, statistical data and other available information to determine the cause and use of all available information to establish an action plan to correct quality concerns.
  • Complete and send the analysis certificate to customers.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Provide training for plant employees on established quality functions, including visual inspection and testing as well as assist in the development of additional training programs for employees.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement projects as assigned by the Quality Supervisor.
  • Prepare daily Quality Notes including the following: product quality, raw material, quality improvement, customer, employees, equipment and safety.
  • SPC data review and follow-up.
  • Audit plant procedures for Quality, Calibration, Blow or Injection Processes, etc.
  • Place on hold any suspect product and communicate issues to the QA and Operations supervisor.
  • Hold / Release product once disposition has been determined by Material Review Board.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of: GMP, HACCP, AIB Prerequisite Programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret data including histograms, X-bar and R charts.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Possess all the skills and abilities required of a Quality Auditor.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, to prioritize, organize, work well under stress in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Technical College or Administrative College degree.
  • Acquired or will be expected to acquire quality certification or equivalent.

Level of Authority:

Incumbent has the right to hold for inspection any product he/she feels does not meet customer/company specifications and shut down machines that pose a safety or quality issue.
