(Remote) Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled z/OS Performance Monitoring Specialist to support a critical migration project transitioning from CA NetMaster to the IBM OMEGAMON Network Monitoring suite. This role plays a vital part in enhancing our enterprise system monitoring capabilities and ensuring optimal performance of our mainframe infrastructure. The specialist will work within the z/OS systems team, contributing to the modernization and integration of performance tools, ensuring high availability, efficiency, and actionable insight across mainframe environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration of network monitoring from CA NetMaster to IBM OMEGAMON Network solutions.
- Configure, maintain, and optimize IBM OMEGAMON monitoring tools across various mainframe components.
- Collaborate with systems programmers, network engineers, and application support teams to define and implement monitoring best practices.
- Integrate monitoring tools with enterprise management systems for centralized visibility.
- Develop and maintain documentation for tool configurations, migration procedures, and operational standards.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams regarding OMEGAMON usage and monitoring strategies.
- Monitor performance trends and proactively identify system issues, recommending enhancements.
Experience:
- Migration from CA NetMaster to OMEGAMON Network - Advanced expertise in managing end-to-end migration, including planning, execution, validation, and support.
- OMEGAMON Monitor for z/OS - Proficiency in system-level performance monitoring and threshold management.
- IBM Z OMEGAMON for CICS - Intermediate knowledge of monitoring CICS transactions and region performance.
