Job Description: Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems, network, and communication infrastructure that support core organizational functions. Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all infrastructure and associated systems. Provide network and systems administration for system engineers and internal and external network and server environments including but not limited to planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all system hardware, software, and communication links.
- Work with management, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
- Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the management, department heads, and end-users regarding pertinent network operations activities.
- Responsible for entire projects or processes within discipline. Contribute to the completion of team objectives.
- Provides direction to junior Info Ops Engineers according to established policies and management guidance.
- Design and deploy new solutions and enhancements to existing on-prem and cloud systems, network and communication infrastructure.
- Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed solutions to aid management in making implementation decisions.
- Conduct research on systems, network and communication infrastructure to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services.
- Analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the customer's service level agreement (SLA).
- Perform complex engineering support on a variety of technical projects of limited scope under minimal supervision and instruction.
- Test, maintain, and monitor systems. Coordinate the installation of applications and systems.
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing company systems, network; develop and implement strategies for improving, replacing, or further leveraging these systems.
- Propose and create systems and network design models and specifications.
- Design and support the organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware, software, and cloud-based services.
- Design and perform systems, network, and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of entire company systems.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
- Monitor and test network performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
- Provide orientation and training to end-users for all modified and new systems.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or network engineering.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
- 4+ years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of systems and network operations, and related product.
- 4+ years of experience with systems and network planning, security principles, and general communication management best practices.
- 4+ years of experience with network and security devices, including, but not limited to: CheckPoint/Palo Alto/Cisco firewalls, Cisco Switches, Cisco Router, IDS, IPS and Brocade switch.
- Experience working in Storage Area Networks (EMC, Dell, IBM), Firewall, Switch, Router, wireless, LAN, WAN, and server.
- Experience in Virtualization (VMware and AWS) environments.
- Directory Services - Microsoft Active Directory (Domain Services and Certificate Services), DNS and DHCP.
- Systems Monitoring - SolarWinds Orion or equivalent.
- Data Center Infrastructure - Environmental Controls, Power Delivery (Generator, UPS, Transfer Switches, etc.) and Access Control/Monitoring.
License/Certification Required:
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS).
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of:Current software protocols, and internet standards, including TCP/UDP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS, LDAP, etc; AWS administration and implementation, including networking, VPCs, Route53, DirectConnect, S3 storage, and S2 instances; cloud-based Microsoft technologies, including Azure Active Directory, Office 365 administration, Single Sign-On (SSO) integration, SharePoint/OneDrive, and best security practices; application delivery systems (RemoteApps, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop); Visio, Office, and Solarwinds; operating systems, including VMWare ESX, Windows Servers, and Linux; data privacy practices and law.
- Skill in:Working as member of a team; communicating effectively; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Analysis and creative problem-solving; providing user-friendly customer service.
- Ability to:Make critical decisions while following company procedures; demonstrate project management skills and best practices; work in a fast-paced environment; stay organized, prioritize workload, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
