The Optum Insight Product Management internship offers a 10-week immersive experience where you'll collaborate with product management leaders. This internship starts June 3, 2025 and provides a unique chance to contribute to the implementation of innovative solutions throughout the product development process while driving business success.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

As an Optum Insight Product Management Intern you will:



  • Perform in-depth market research and competitive analysis to uncover trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Establish product requirements and roadmaps aligned with customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibility
  • Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to drive product development and go-to-market strategies
  • Evaluate user data, A/B test results, and key performance metrics to assess product success and enhance performance
  • Create and present business cases for new product initiatives to stakeholders and leadership
  • Help prioritize product features and define key success metrics
  • Participate in Agile product development activities, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and stakeholder updates

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree
  • Currently enrolled in a PHD, MD, or Master's Degree with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering, AI Systems, Information Systems, Healthcare Analytics/Informatics, Medical Management, Product Management, Software, UX & Design, Biomedical Data Science, or Clinical Management (must be graduating no later than July 2026)
  • 3+ years of previous professional work experience
  • Proficiency in designing and documenting user flows and workflows for application development
  • Ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize and shape product roadmaps
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Proven success in launching software products in Agile environments
  • Knowledge of software development processes and technologies
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and product management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello)
  • Experience with data analytics tools
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and practices
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute methodically
  • Clear and concise communication of complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with solid critical thinking skills

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $125,000 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
