Position Summary

Odyssey Systems is actively seeking a Sytems Cybersecurity Engineer for a critical role at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, as part of the SZQ organization. This organization plays a vital role in supporting national missile warning missions. The Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for managing a comprehensive security patching and vulnerability management program, crucial for the operation and security of mission-critical radar systems. This role is central to safeguarding our information systems, particularly focusing on the upkeep, development, and enhancement of our on-premises cloud system that is essential for Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. The successful candidate will ensure the reliability and efficiency of our cloud-based infrastructures, aligning their cybersecurity efforts with SZQ's strategic objectives in missile defense.

This is a full time position located in Colorado Springs, CO located at Peterson SFB in building 2025.



Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Planning, testing, and installing vulnerability fixes on Windows and Linux/Unix platforms.
  • Assessing systems for vulnerabilities, verifying system hardening, and ensuring effective patching.
  • Developing scripts to automate the installation of patches/configurations and to identify vulnerabilities efficiently.
  • Implementing, maintaining, and monitoring DoD vulnerability scanning tools, such as Nessus.
  • Developing vulnerability reports, investigating the impact of vulnerabilities, and analyzing patches.
  • Providing regular reports on the patch management program and the status of patch compliance.
  • Documenting, implementing, and prioritizing patching requirements across the organization.
  • Participating in change management and configuration management processes.
  • Analyzing cyber requirements, including DoD STIGs, SRGs, and related checklists.
  • Proposing, implementing, and maintaining security improvements.
  • Maintaining performance metrics and providing regular updates to the technical program manager.
  • Resolving issues and escalating unresolved ones to the technical program manager.
  • Effectively communicating and building rapport with team members, management, stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and interface groups.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret level clearance

Certifications: Must satisfy DoD 8570/DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 or 3 requirements, including holding an approved baseline certification.

Education: High School Diploma

Years' of experience: 7 years of experience in System Cybersecurity

Preferred Qualifications:

Clearance: Top Secret

Education: Bachelor's degree

Years' of experience: 3 years of experience in System Cybersecurity

Additional experience:

  • SIEM tools such as LogRhythm, Syslog, and Windows Events.
  • IDS/IPS technologies.
  • DoD security tools like HBSS or ESS.
  • Incident response and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Effective communication with teams and stakeholders.
  • On-premises cloud development, particularly within environments utilizing VMware or Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) architectures.
  • Providing cybersecurity support in VMware/SDDC environments, with a focus on cloud security practices and infrastructure protection.

Additional Information:

Location: Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs CO - Building 2025

Travel: Potential for minimal travel (less than 10%)

Hybrid: In-office with the potential for hybrid flexibility approx. 1 day a week following the first 6-9 months of employment (subject to change per the customer's discretion)
