Description

The Department of Religion at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach REL 08 Introduction to Buddhism in the fall of 2025.

Introduction to Buddhism is a survey course that introduces students to the history, doctrines, and practices of Buddhism in Asia and across the world. Topics may include the origins of Buddhism, the life and teachings of the Buddha, doctrinal and philosophical developments, and the nature and expression of Buddhism in selected contexts across South and Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the modern West. The class is scheduled to meet Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00am-10:15am. Expected enrollment is 30 students.


Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with college-level teaching experience; a Ph.D. or ABD candidate status in Religion is preferred, but those with PhDs in related fields are also encouraged to apply.
