Research Senior Technician

The Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a self-motivated individual to assist in the research on cardiovascular disease under the direction of Dr. Yanbo Fan. The Fan Lab, within the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, focuses on cardiovascular diseases.

Duties

* Assisting in the daily activities of running the laboratory.

* Organizing laboratory supply and records.

* Conducting experiments involving basic biochemical, molecular, and animal studies using set protocols.

* Animal genotyping and management.

* Other duties as assigned.

* Opportunity for independent research is also available depending on experience and interest.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a profession/field or equivalent level of knowledge.

Desired Qualifications:

* BS or MS degree in Physiology, Pharmacology, Molecular Cellular Biology, and other Biological Sciences, or in a related field with experience and strong interest in laboratory research.

* Prior experience with animal studies, western blot, immunohistochemistry, or RT-PCR is a plus.

* Previous experience and knowledge with cell culture, protein, DNA and RNA purification, animal surgery and mouse colony management are advantageous
