Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Legal Intern will gain experience within the Legal department by mapping the deceased account business process and estate claims process at Everwise. The intern will interact with people from multiple departments including Deceased Accounts/IRA, Collections, and Loss Mitigation. There is also potential to gain experience contacting different county courts and interacting with

external legal counsel.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for assisting the Legal Department with regulatory and legal research needed to complete the assigned project
  • Responsible for identifying and communicating the resources needed to complete the assigned project
  • Research and recommend additional tools that may benefit Everwise based on the needs of the project
  • Responsible for assisting the Legal Department in reviewing credit union procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and compliance with all regulatory rules.
  • Where required or justified, suggest new policies and contribute to policy and document design, drafting, and implementation among the Legal Department and rest of the business

Knowledge/Skills:

  • High level of professionalism
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word)
  • Accountable for the quality of work provided, documentation and follow-up with adherence to Everwise's service expectations.
  • Accountable for maintaining the strictest of confidentiality

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Currently attending a college or university and have taken the intermediate level courses typically in the third year of study.
  • Pursuit of degree in Law preferred
