Regularly engage in community outreach to provide peer support. This may include but is not limited to meeting people in a variety of settings and times based on comfort level and safety, face-to-face connection, and telephone support services. This includes being flexible, and able, to accommodate peer schedules and requests. Meet with Behavioral Health and Prevention teams to maintain consistent communication and review progress on care plans. Build and maintain strong relationships and proficient knowledge of resources available in the Greater Milwaukee Area. This position will be expected to have basic knowledge of how to assist peers with locating and navigating community and resources Develop or contribute to the development of promotional materials. Facilitation and motivational interviewing to support wellness/recovery plans, as needed. Be knowledgeable of the options for substance use treatment and/or other Behavioral Health needs available. Promote the availability of harm reduction services and supplies at SSCHC Prevention Center and other community organizations. As available and needed, assist with HIV, HEP C, STI, and CTR (counseling, testing, and referral). Actively participate in grant meetings. Qualifications: Identify as a person with lived experience with substance abuse disorder. Lived experience includes caring for or playing a significant role in the support of a family or friend with a substance abuse disorder. Experience working with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Valid Wisconsin driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance. Excellent organizational skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency. Preferred Qualifications: Credentials: Wisconsin Certified Peer Support Specialist Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, health education, or another related field. Computer skills (internet, email, Microsoft products). Familiarity working with electronic medical record systems. Other Requirements: Must complete education and complete the certification of the Wisconsin Certified Peer Support Specialist credential within 12 months of the hire date. Must complete Naloxone administration and distribution training within 2-4 months of the hire date.
